Autumn in Reception
Reception class have been busy discovering all the wonderful things about Autumn and hibernation!
The children have loved getting hands-on with lots of exciting activities. They have been testing which Autumn objects float and sink, making clever predictions and sharing their discoveries. Out in our outdoor area, they enjoyed collecting colourful Autumn leaves to build cosy dens for hibernating hedgehogs — perfect homes for our little woodland friends!
We have listened to some lovely Autumn stories and even built houses for Leaf Man, using wooden blocks. In our creative area, the children have been busy painting hibernating animals in their dens, showing fantastic attention to detail.
There was lots of excitement when we found out there’s a bear hibernating in our classroom! The children have written warning signs to make sure everyone keeps quiet while the bear sleeps.
In maths, the children have been working hard too — selecting a number and representing it with counters, practising careful counting and number recognition.
It’s been a wonderful, busy week full of creativity, curiosity, and Autumn magic!
