Friday 28 November 2025 Christmas is coming! The children in Miss Oliphant's class were given a very special job to do today. They were asked to decorate the Christmas tree in the hall! Everyone was very excited and had a fantastic time choosing baubles and hanging them on the branches. We hope you like it as much as we do.

Thursday 27 November 2025 Christmas Dance Event On Tuesday 25th, the whole school were lucky enough to be part of a Christmas dance event with the Create dance centre. Rachel (who led the session) was excellent and shared so many amazing dance moves with classes across the school.

Thursday 27 November 2025 Interfaith Week 2025 During Interfaith Week, our school welcomed several local faith leaders who shared their beliefs and traditions with our students. Jonah spoke about Judaism, offering insights into its history and practices. Kirtida introduced key aspects of Hinduism, while Brother Khadim helped students learn about Islamic faith and culture. We were also joined by Andy Gawn and Rev. Lucy Moss, who discussed Christianity and its place in our community. Their visits encouraged curiosity, respect, and understanding across different faiths.

Friday 21 November 2025 Tiny Tasters visit Key Stage One In DT, the children in Key Stage One have been investigating how to make a delicious, healthy pasta salad. After looking at different food groups and choosing ingredients that are good for our bodies, we worked with the lovely 'Mrs Taster' from Tiny Tasters who showed us how to make our own amazing pasta salads that we then took home to share with our families.

Thursday 20 November 2025 Snowy Day The children in Miss Oliphant's class had great fun in the snow. They made snow angels, played with snowballs and made footprints. There wasn't quite enough snow to make a snowman but maybe next time!

Thursday 20 November 2025 Remembrance day The children in Year 1/2 loved learning about Remembrance day and the importance of remembering all of the people who have helped to look after us and protect our country. We watched a lovely animated video about the poppy fields before creating our own Remembrance day art work.

Thursday 20 November 2025 Year 4 Forest school On a very cold Thursday and the snow fall around us, Year 4 braved the field for a superb forest school experience. With new forest school leader Chris, the children spent the morning building fires. In quite tricky conditions they showed amazing perseverance and resilience. The result, two brilliant fires! (And some very cold boys and girls!)

Tuesday 18 November 2025 Year 6- Tips On Staying Safe Today, Year 6 visited Safety Works in Newcastle to learn about how they are able keep themselves safe when they are out in the community and at home. They were told all about how they could create a code word that they could share with their parents in case they ever find themselves in a difficult situation and need help. They also learned all about the different emergency services that they could use if they ever found themselves in danger.

Tuesday 18 November 2025 KS2 Cookery Club KS2 children have been working hard gaining new skills and independence in the kitchen at Cookery Club! This week the children loved making healthy wraps and sandwiches. They chose from a variety of fillings and sampled their creations at the end of the session. After making their food, the children then helped clean all of the equipment and tidy the kitchen area.

Monday 17 November 2025 Year 4 Children in Need On Friday, children dressed spotty in celebration of Children in need. Our challenge for the day was do a dance as class. The children had a great time being all spotty and showing off their best moves.

Monday 17 November 2025 Y3 Forest School - Autumn 2 In Forest School this half term, Year 3 got the chance to wear army jackets and army facepaint to camouflage in the forest. They learnt how to stay hidden – Miss Millar and Miss Kwiaton had a real challenge trying to uncover some of the children! They also took part in a boys vs girls den building competition, we are so impressed with the teamwork and communication skills they demonstrated.

Monday 17 November 2025 Children in Need 2025 The children in Miss Oliphant's class loved taking part in the Children in Need activities. When Pudsey Bear came to visit, they could not wait to meet him! They also enjoyed making spotty biscuits, creating a spotty Pudsey and joining in with the special Children in Need dance. It was fantastic fun!

Thursday 13 November 2025 Wardley Hockey Team Over the last few months, some of our year 5 and 6 children have been participating in a Gateshead hockey league. They started the league slow - with a hard fought loss to Harlow green. From there, we haven't looked back though and have won our next two games.

Thursday 13 November 2025 Plastic Pollution In Autumn 1 the children have been writing non chronological reports about plastic pollution. We have learnt about the impact that plastic pollution is having on our oceans.

Thursday 13 November 2025 Bonfire Night and Diwali As part of our celebrations topic, we have been learning about how and why people celebrate Bonfire Night and Diwali. We have read stories about these celebrations and have had lots of different activities in Nursery to help us learn about them.

Wednesday 5 November 2025 Year 6 Visit Beamish - Climate Change Project Year 6 had an excellent day at Beamish Museum today as part of their ongoing Climate Change Project. During their visit, the children explored how our carbon footprint has changed from the 1820s to the 1950s, learning about how industrial and lifestyle changes have contributed to the increase in carbon emissions over time.

Friday 24 October 2025 End of Autumn Term 1 2025 Celebration Today marks the end of our first half term back! It has flown by. We celebrated the success of the children who have really thrown themselves into the new academic year.

Friday 24 October 2025 NUFC PSHE Workshops This half term, NUFC Foundation have been helping to deliver our P.S.H.E. lessons within Year 6. The children have been learning all about key issues such as stereotyping, discrimination and bullying. The children have found the sessions very engaging and have really improved their awareness about the topics taught.

Friday 24 October 2025 Year 6b Library Visit Yesterday, as part of our first Reading for Pleasure activity this half term, Year 6B visited Pelaw Library. The children had a fantastic time taking part in a Horrible Histories quiz, listening to a story, and exploring the wide range of books on offer.

Thursday 23 October 2025 Patterns and Pumpkins In our recent art topic, Year 3 explored the work of Yayoi Kusama. They have designed their own patterned pumpkins, inspired by the artist, and used clay to create their own version.

Thursday 23 October 2025 Sportshall Athletics Year 6a Today, Year 6a attended an athletics event at Gateshead Stadium organised by Gateshead Schools Sports Partnership. The children competed against children from lots of other schools in a range of events. They did an incredible job, not just in their performance, but also in their attitude and resilience. They should all be incredibly proud of themselves.

Thursday 23 October 2025 Pelaw Library with Year 3 Year 3 spent this morning at Pelaw Library. We played some games about the Horrible Histories book "Slimy Stuarts", linked to bonfire night. We then selected some fiction and non-fiction books to borrow and bring back to school.
