Friday 23 October 2026 Halloween Reading Event in Year 1 On Thursday, we spent the afternoon celebrating Year 1's reading achievements by reading Room On The Broom, creating our own broomsticks and wands and watching the film of the book. We even had cookies and juice to enjoy whilst we watched!

Friday 23 October 2026 Halloween in Nursery What a fang-tastic time we have had in Nursery celebrating Halloween! The children have enjoyed a week full of exciting activities, creative experiences and spooky sensory explorations.

Friday 23 October 2026 Halloween in the Star Suite In the Star Suite this week, the children have had an amazing time taking part in a wide range of Halloween activities. They have enjoyed listening to Halloween stories, singing Halloween songs and dressing up in costumes. As part of their creative work, they have written Halloween spells, drawn on pumpkins, created lanterns and made collage mummies. One of their favourite activities was sitting together to make ghosts on toast. The children had to practise a number of skills, such as spreading butter on toast, cutting the bananas and waiting for their turn. The best part was eating the toast!

Thursday 22 October 2026 Feeding Families Harvest Collection Over the last two weeks, our wonderful Wardley community have been bringing food parcels into school to help the brilliant 'Feeding Families' charity. Today children from the school council counted and sorted the food ready for it to be collected. Together, we collected an amazing 210 food items!! Thank you to everyone who made a donation.

Wednesday 21 October 2026 We Are Artist - Year 2B The children in Year 2B have been busy exploring what it means to be an artist during their ‘I Am An Artist' art topic. They have enjoyed experimenting with a range of materials and discovering how artists can create different lines, textures, patterns and marks.

Wednesday 21 October 2026 Technology Around Us Y1 In Year 1, we have been exploring technology around us. We identified the parts of a computer and a laptop, comparing it to an iPad. On the iPads, we explored how to use our finger as a 'mouse' to select, move and draw. We also practiced adding text, using the onscreen keyboard. Following on from writing labels in our English unit 'Tiddler', the children designed their own fish and each gave it a name label.

Friday 16 October 2026 Science in the Star Suite This week, the children in the Star Suite have been investigating their 5 senses. They have explored objects in a feely box using their sense of touch and have created a collage using different types of materials. They have also used their sense of hearing to identify a range of mystery sounds. However, their favourite activity was taking part in a taste test. They were invited to taste a range of bitter, sweet, sour, savoury and salty food. Everyone decided that being a scientist is great fun!

Thursday 15 October 2026 Christmas cards 3A Today we made some Christmas cards (little early...) children enjoyed using water colours and tape to make Christmas patterns.

Thursday 8 October 2026 Wardley hockey 26/27 On Wednesday 7th October, our (mostly) new hockey team once again graced the field of play. Playing a couple of matches against Kells Lane we then finished with an inter squad match. Mr Wildman and Mr Vanstone could not be more proud of how our children went about their hockey.

Thursday 8 October 2026 Wardley Karate On Tuesday, we welcomed the Karate coach that runs an afterschool at Wardley on a Monday night. He ran sessions across the day to give a taster to our children of what they'd expect from doing a class with him.

Friday 2 October 2026 Year 6 - Air Resistance Experiment This afternoon, Year 6 explored air resistance through a practical science investigation. The children designed and created their own parachutes before testing them and timing how long they took to fall. They investigated how air resistance affects the speed of a falling object, using their observations to develop their understanding of forces and fair testing. They enjoyed working together in order to test their own predictions.

Friday 2 October 2026 Friendship in the Star Suite Miss Oliphant's class this week have had a fantastic time learning all about friendship. The children have worked together to build models, complete jigsaws and share books. They have talked about what it means to be a good friend and have listened to stories all about friendship. They have made friendship bracelets for their friends and have made pictures showing them with their friends.

Thursday 1 October 2026 Friendship Fun in Reception What a wonderful week we have had in Reception, learning all about how to be a good friend. The children have worked beautifully together, building huge towers and creating potions collaboratively as well as making pictures of their friends using lots of different media. It has been lovely to watch the children's kindness and cooperation shine!

Friday 18 September 2026 Back to school - Year 2A Year 2A have made a fantastic and smooth transition back to school and have been trying so hard as they settle into their new year group and curriculum. It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitudes towards their learning.
