• Monday 2 June 2025 Year 1b at Forest School (Summer 1) Year 1b got creative mud painting and stamping patterns in leaves they had collected to help them identify which trees are at Forest School. They also safely trimmed back the overgrown areas using secateurs.
• Monday 2 June 2025 Year 1a at Forest School (Summer 1) Year 1a worked hard to safely cut back the overgrown areas of Forest School using secateurs. They also identified trees by their leaves, and got creative stamping patterns in their leaves and mud painting.
• Monday 2 June 2025 Reception at Forest School (Summer 1) Reception's turn at Forest School included carrying out some maintenance of the site. Due to the sunny weather a lot of the tree branches and bushes had grown over the paths. Reception safely used secateurs to trim back the overgrown areas to make Forest School look tidy again.
• Monday 2 June 2025 Year 4 at Forest School (Summer 1) In their Forest School session, Year 4 split wood ready for the fire using a bill hook and a mallet. They found out about woodland animals, and made their own bird feeders.
• Monday 2 June 2025 Year 5b at Forest School (Summer 1) Year 5b safely split wood ready to be used on the fire using a mallet and bill hook. They also made bird feeders and found out about woodland animals on their trail through the trees.
• Friday 23 May 2025 RE in 1b - Shabbat This half term, we have been learning about the Jewish celebration Shabbat. We learnt that Shabbat is a way for Jewish families to remember the story of Creation through rest, prayer and family time. Some families may light candles and say a blessing, drink from Kiddish cups and have Challah bread on the table. We created our own Shabbat experience in the classroom and designed our own Kiddish cups!

• Wednesday 14 May 2025 Year 1a P.E This Half Term Miss Fraser's class have been learning about running in P.E. They have practised different techniques of running and how to position each part of their body so they are able to run as fast as they can.
• Wednesday 7 May 2025 Spring 2 - celebration assembly At the end of another amazing term, we celebrated the success of many children and their incredibly hard work across the curriculum. From huge improvements in maths through to incredible words read. Awesome music and fluent French. These children impress us every single term.

• Friday 11 April 2025 Nursery's Easter Stay and Play This week we welcomed our parents into school to share some wonderful Easter activities. We had a lovely time making playdough nests, rolling Easter eggs down ramps and making patterns on Easter egg shaped paper.

• Wednesday 9 April 2025 Year 5b Arbeia Trip On Friday, Year 5b visited the Arbeia Roman Fort in South Shields to end our learning on the Romans in Britain. The children learnt all about the main purpose of the fort and how the Roman soldiers would have lived whilst based there. They learnt about why the fort was situated where is was and how it would have been defended. The children really enjoyed our visit and having the opportunity to see what we have been learning about in real life.
• Tuesday 8 April 2025 Reception visit the library The children from Reception visited Pelaw library last week and had a wonderful time. They listened to some new stories and they were given the opportunity to choose a book each to bring back to school. We have had lots of fun sharing these stories in our classrooms.
• Monday 7 April 2025 Year 6 at Forest School (Spring 2) Year 6 enjoyed the sunshine at Forest School while making bird feeders using jam and seeds. They also found out about woodland animals in their trail through the trees, and split wood ready for the fire using a mallet and bill hook.
• Monday 7 April 2025 Year 5a at Forest School (Spring 2) Year 5a used a bill hook and mallet to split wood ready for being used on the fire. They also made bird feeders and found out about woodland animals by completing a trail through the trees.
• Monday 7 April 2025 Year 3/4 at Forest School (Spring 2) Year 3/4 enjoyed their time at Forest School learning about woodland animals, making bird feeders, and using a mallet and bill hook to split wood ready for the fire.

• Monday 7 April 2025 Year 1a at Forest School (Spring 2) Year 1a made birds feeders using jam and birds seeds, and then hung them in the trees for the birds to enjoy. They also completed a trail through the trees to find out more about animals that live in the woodlands.

• Monday 7 April 2025 Nursery at Forest School (Spring 2) Nursery had a great time at Forest School making birds feeders, and then hanging them up in the nursery garden for the birds to enjoy.
• Monday 7 April 2025 Charles McGee art in 1b Year 1b are very proud of their Charles McGee inspired 3D sculptures. The children have worked hard to create contrasting patterns using black pen. We have learnt that tone is areas of light and dark within an artwork and we have applied this in our patterns to create areas of strong and weak tone.

• Wednesday 2 April 2025 Year 4 science trip. On a beautiful Wednesday, the year 4's had a fantastic chance to go to the Discovery museum to explore their light topic further.
• Friday 28 March 2025 School of Kindness On Monday, we had a visit from Emily who works for the charity 52 lives (www.52-lives.org) and their School of Kindness! We learned that kindness has three qualities – being friendly, generous and considerate. We learnt about the science of kindness and the positive impact it has on our physical and mental health. To put our kindness into action, we thought of someone we knew who could do with a little kindness and then made them something and gave it to them. Finally, we looked at the quote ‘be the change that you want to see in the world’ and decided that we can help to create the kind of world we want to live in.
