Thursday 14 May 2026 Well Done Year 6 A huge congratulations to all of our Year 6 children for completing SATs week! You should all feel incredibly proud of yourselves for the determination, resilience and positive attitude you have shown throughout the week. We are so proud of the hard work, focus and perseverance you have demonstrated, as well as the kindness and support you have shown to one another. You have all approached the challenge with maturity and confidence, and now it's time to celebrate your fantastic achievement — well done, Year 6!

Wednesday 13 May 2026 Reception - Flower Planting Today, Reception decided to make our garden area look more inviting. As we have been learning about flowers this week and how to care for them, we decided to plant some seeds. We carefully followed the steps for planting flowers and worked together in teams to plant a variety of summer flowers. We hope the rainy weather will help our plants to grow, and we can't wait to see them bloom!

Wednesday 13 May 2026 Reception Fine Motor Skills - Summer 2026 Reception have been developing their fine motor skills to support pencil control and build muscle strength. This week, they have been scrunching tissue paper to create flower petals, using playdough to make small petals for a petal-less flower, and using tweezers to pick up pom-poms to create repeating patterns.

Monday 11 May 2026 Year 3 Forest School - Summer 1 This half term, children in Y3 have enjoyed hands-on learning outdoors, including fire-based activities such as toasting bread, while practising respectful behaviour and following clear safety routines at every stage. The session focused on collecting sticks and using them responsibly to start a fire, helping pupils build confidence, teamwork and a deeper understanding of the natural environment. The children toasted bread and sweets to enjoy, after singing around the fire.

Thursday 7 May 2026 Year 4 art gallery trip We were excited to be invited to the Laing art gallery, where your children have had the chance to explore inspiring portraits and learn more about how artists capture people's personalities through colour, detail and expression. It was a brilliant new experience that supported our learning in a fun, hands-on way.

Thursday 7 May 2026 Reception Puppet Workshop Reception had a fantastic time working in partnership with the Theatre Royal and freelance artist Anna to create some amazing World Cup themed animal mascots out of socks!

Wednesday 6 May 2026 Hockey champions The hockey league at Gateshead International stadium was a fantastic event to watch, and it was clear from the start that the children were proud of what they'd achieved. The atmosphere felt full of energy, and it was great to see so many families cheering them on. The word champions really seemed to fit, not just for the final results, but for the effort and confidence the pupils showed throughout.

Wednesday 6 May 2026 NUF Golf - PE NUF Golf - PE at Wardley Primary is a fantastic PE session for our children, bringing a clear focus on golf and physical education in a way that felt welcoming and age-appropriate. These sessions help pupils build confidence with simple skills, while also keeping everyone engaged and active throughout the day.

Tuesday 5 May 2026 Laing Art Gallery and Theatre Royal with Year 3 Recently, Year 3 have visited The Laing Art Gallery and Theatre Royal to enhance our experiences and explore the arts. In the Laing, the children participated in a 'Portraits' workshop, visiting the gallery and discussing the art. The class then created their own portraits, inspired by one from the gallery.

Tuesday 28 April 2026 Mosque Visit in Y3 Year 3 have recently learnt about Early Islamic Civilisation in History, as well as RE. Today we visited a mosque to see the part it plays in the community, and see how Muslims practice their faith. The children were very curious, asked some great questions and shared their excellent knowledge. We had the opportunity to explore different features of the mosque and discuss their purpose. In Islam, prayer is very important - some of our children showed us how they pray to Allah.

Thursday 2 April 2026 Year 4 shell structures Day 2 Welcome to Year 4 Shell Structures Day 2 at Wardley Primary! The children built on what they finished from day 1, using the skills they have already practised to develop stronger, more accurate shell structures. We also shared simple explanations and showing how careful measurements and teamwork help ideas become real models.

Monday 30 March 2026 Year 4 computing - coding Wardley Primary's “Year 4 computing - coding” session was a great opportunity for children to learn how they can develop key programming skills. The session introduced children to coding in a friendly, age-appropriate way, helping children understand what learning looks like in the classroom and how confidence grows through small, achievable tasks.

Monday 30 March 2026 Year 4 Trip to the Mosque Our Year 4 Trip to the Mosque was a lovely experience for the children and for parents watching them learn. The visit was well organised and made everyone feel welcome from the moment we arrived.

Friday 27 March 2026 Year 6b IntoUniversity The children had an amazing time exploring the world of engineering, learning about a range of fields including robotics, civil, environmental and automotive engineering. They also discovered how bridge structures work and experimented with ways to strengthen their own designs.
