Friday 22 November 2024 Maths in Nursery Over the last year, we have developed a new curriculum for Maths in Nursery. Taking the lead from The Learning Trajectories curriculum, we have created a series of teacher-led small groups sessions were the children work on numbers within 5. The aim of these sessions is to increase the children's understanding of the numbers and how they are made up. The children are given a STEM sentence for each lesson which helps them to demonstrate their understanding of the concepts covered. For example, "1 more than 3 is 4". The children also carry out daily group work with Miss Nelson where they focus on skills such as counting, shape recognition and subitising (recognising quantities of objects on sight).
