Gymnastics in 1b
Year 1 have been introduced to gymnastics this half term, exploring different shapes and movements. Their focus is to familiarise themselves with the apparatus, move safely, discover ways to create different shapes, and learn what it means to move like a gymnast. We have been focusing on ‘wide’ and ‘narrow’ shapes, where the children have shown different ways to interpret these movements. They have applied the knowledge in their warm ups and following onto the gymnastics apparatus. The pictures show the children using the beam and mats, exploring different ‘wide’ and ‘narrow’ shapes, as well as following instructions safely.
