We began our exciting adventure by sharing the story together, following the witch and her cat as they met new friends along the way. The children enjoyed listening to the rhyming tale and discovering how the characters worked together to help one another.
After reading the story, we got creative! The children designed and made their very own magical wands using a variety of collage materials. They used their imagination to create unique designs, making each wand special. We also worked together to build a magnificent broom using Lego, showing fantastic teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills.
To bring the story to life even further, the children coloured pictures featuring their favourite characters and scenes. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and how they remembered details from the story.
To finish our magical reading event, we settled down to watch the animated version of Room on the Broom. The children enjoyed relaxing with a drink of juice and a tasty snack while watching the story unfold on screen.
It was a fantastic celebration of reading, creativity and teamwork. Well done, Year 2, for making our reading event so magical!
